Farewell 2013, hello 2014!

Wow, what a year!

As always I started 2013 with a personal/professional todo list. There were a few things on that list that I wanted to achieve. As the year is going to end I want to do a short review of my agenda and what happened with any of that items:

  • Increase productivity in my daily work
I came up with this using new tools, new kinds of techniques and using new resources to learn and share knowledge

  • for me and my company (e.g. my colleagues) I wanted to contribute at least one project to OpenNTF
Ok, only I contributed to OpenNTF yet - currently 4 projects

  • participate on the OpenNTF app dev contests
I did that though the active part was Niklas Heidloff who submitted two of my contributions to the XPages contest - and one of them won one of the 5 prizes - great!
Besides that I was one of the winners of both XSnippets contests this year - cool!

  • change the way I plan, create and design applications on my "home" platform IBM Domino
I now prefer creating new applications (done predominantly in my spare time) using XPages and Java as backend

  • get in touch with others of the community
That was the easy part. All the people I learned to know within 2013 are such creative, kind and down-to-earth - and they all cook with the same warm water which makes them even more likable

That sounds pretty good hm?

But there is more: for 2014 I wish to transport my knowledge to fellow developers, colleagues and also customers to show them the power of the platform Domino. Many of them plan to migrate to other platforms (e.g. MS Sharepoint) but they don't get the idea of the consequences. So I want to tell them about it.

Personally I'm looking forward to the next generation of the IBM Domino technology and the social components. I am sure that the collaboration within the community will continue and I want to be a part of it. And of course my next goal is to get the IBM Champion achievement for 2015 as I missed it for 2014.

I wish you and your families a great year of 2014! Have fun and keep healthy!
